Assessments help to:
Understand how a person is functioning
Help an individual to modify or learn a new way of completing a task
Assist in creating a safer home or work environment
Provide recommendations for equipment or modifications required to increase a person’s independence and function
Functional Assessment
Important to determine a person’s strengths and any dysfunction in their activities of daily living. They include detailed interviews and observation of daily living tasks completed in the home, work, or other suitable environment. A mix of standardized, semi-structured and non-standardised assessments are also utilized. They provide recommendations for how a person can work towards improving their function and independence. These assessments can specifically outline what support is required through the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
Activities of Daily Living and Home Assessment
Conducted in the home environment and assesses a person’s level of function in and around the home, typically a person’s ability to undertake their self-care, domestic, and recreational activities. This assessment can specifically outline what home modification, equipment or home care services support is required through Home Care Packages (HCP) or under Workers Compensation Insurance.
Ergonomic / Workstation Assessment
An assessment of your workstation (in most instances, this is a desk either at your home and/or workplace). Assesses a person’s working posture and the workstation set-up, to reduce discomfort and pain.
Workplace Assessment
Assists in understanding a person’s ability to undertake the duties required within a job and workplace. Recommendations are made as to how a worker can grade their return to work, or how work tasks or the work environment can be modified.
Assistive Technology (AT) Assessment and Equipment Prescription
Review any equipment or item that can improve a person’s function and independence. The assessment will review your current need, and then we will discuss what options are available before submitting a report / application for the most appropriate and reasonable AT option.
